Letter from Greg
Dear Friends and Fellow Artists,
One day back in 1992 I woke up, rolled out of bed and once again
confronted the stacks of applications from scores of shows I thought
showed potential. The flood of paperwork made me want to get back into
bed, pull the covers over my head, and have someone else sort through
the annual deluge. But with a hungry family of five to feed, I knew that
was out of the question... I'd just have to slog through the information
jungle myself.
I knew I wouldn't be able to do all those shows, nor would I want to.
However, the question of which shows would be the most profitable and
best suited to my work was a nagging and recurring dilemma. So on that
bleak December morning-even before my first cup o' Joe — I decided
to take on the lack of coherent information about that mystifying entity
we affectionately call "The Circuit".
As an act of self-preservation, I created my own guide.
Now, twelve years later, I'm happy I did. As an artist and exhibitor, I
benefit from all the SourceBook has to offer, and so will you. Thanks to
this handy guide, you'll be better prepared to deal with the annual
deluge of applications, selecting only the best events for your
particular work. I hope it saves you time, makes you money, and smoothes
out the road to your success as an independent artist.
Best wishes and see you out there,
